‘Jungle Book’ scribe wanted for ‘Top Gun’ sequel…
THR is hearing word that Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have set their sights on screenwriter Justin Marks (‘The Jungle Book’) to pen the script for their sequel to the 1980s Tom Cruise classic ‘Top Gun.’
Cruise is expected to reprise his role of Maverick, with the film dealing with the relevance of pilots in today’s high-tech, drone-centric war environment.
David Ellison of Skydance is also producing. Skydance’s Dana Goldberg is exec producing.
Peter Craig (‘The Town’) penned a draft of the script a couple of years ago, but the project stalled following the death of Tony Scott.
