“The Rock” confirmed for superhero flick…
Successful wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (‘San Andreas,’ ‘Fast & Furious 6’) has confirmed, via Twitter, that he is set to take on the role of Black Adam in a big screen outing of the DC Comics property ‘Shazam.’
Created by writer Otto Binder and artist C. C. Beck, Black Adam was introduced as the deadly and evil adversary of the superhero Shazam. However, recent storylines have re-defined the character as a corrupted antihero attempting to “clear his name.”

Black Adam’s powers come from the ancient Egyptian God who blessed him with unlimited stamina, super-speed, incredible strength, vast wisdom, the power of flight, and unlimited courage.
Variety adds that Darren Lemke (‘Goosebumps,’ ‘Jack the Giant Slayer’) is on board to provide the script with Johnson producing via his 7 Bucks banner. Hiram Garcia is also producing. No word on a director, or release date.
