Icelandic filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur (‘2 Guns,’ ‘Contraband’) is set to take the helm of Viking action drama ‘Vikingr’ for Universal Pictures, according to Heat Vision.
Featuring a script by Kormákur and Ólafur Egill Egilsson, the film is “based on the classic tales deriving from the legendary Icelandic Sagas, which document larger-than-life heroes, adventures and battles of early Nordic settlers, as well as daily life in the Viking age.”
Producers on ‘Vikingr’ include Marc Platt and Adam Siegel, Working Title Film’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, and Nathalie Marciano, along with Kormákur via his RVK Studios banner.
Kormákur is currently putting the finishing touches on ‘Everest,’ his mountaineering survival drama starring Jason Clarke, Jake Gyllenhaal, Keira Knightley, Robin Wright, and Josh Brolin.
