Adaptation enlists new helmer.
Newcomer Wes Ball has been tapped by 20th Century Fox to take the directing reigns of ‘The Maze Runner,’ an adaptation of James Dashner’s 2009 dystopian novel.
The young adult novel follows Thomas, who after having his memory wiped is “deposited in a community of boys trapped in an enormous maze. He soon learns they are part of a mysterious test, and finds it is his destiny to join the ‘maze runners’ and lead them to freedom.”
Noah Oppenheim penned the most recent draft of the adaptation. Ball replaces Catherine Hardwicke (‘Twilight’) who was initially attached to direct.
