Movie adaptation of the young adult novel in the works.
Variety reports that the rights to author Maggie Stiefvater’s young adult novel ‘The Raven Boys’ have been snapped up by New Line Cinema with Akiva Goldsman attached to produce via his Weed Road banner alongside Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures.
Set to arrive on book shelves later this week, the story revolves around Blue Sargent, “a 16-year old from a family of psychics who has been foretold that she will cause her true love to die. Avoiding boys was pretty easy when she was younger but harder now that she is beginning to find herself attracted to them, especially the rich prep school-going circle of teen known as the Raven Boys.
One of the boys is seeking the burial place of a Welsh noble who is said to be in deep slumber and whoever awakens him will be granted a favour.”
‘The Raven Boys’ is the first in Stiefvater’s four-book ‘Raven Cycle’ series.
