Thriller based on a short story by Edgar Allen Poe.
Deadline has learned that writer/director Brad Anderson (‘The Machinist,’ ‘Session 9’) has been tapped by Nu Image/Millennium Films to take the director’s chair for the thriller ‘Eliza Graves.’
Written by screenwriter and novelist Joseph Gangemi, the film is based on the Edgar Allan Poe tale ‘The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether’ and is about a young medicial student who arrives to apprentice at a mental institution where he falls in love with a patient under circumstances that are more complicated than they seem.
Anderson replaces ‘Paranormal Activity’ helmer Oren Peli who was previously linked to the project.
Icon Productions partners Mel Gibson and Bruce Davey are co-producing with Mark Amin and Cami Winikoff of Sobini Pictures and Peli. Production is set for spring 2013.
