Sony Picks Up 2012

It didn’t take long… After yesterday’s news, that the studios were vieing for Emmerich’s latest apocalyptic script, it appears Sony has won the rights to it. The film is due to go into production late summer this year. According to Variety,  the decision signals that the various studios are open to flashy packages after the resolution of the writer’s strike last week.

As of yet there are no details relating to the script, though we know it’s another collaborative effort from Roland and Harald Kloser. The two recently worked together on the prehistoric epic ‘10,000 BC’, due to be realsed in all Irish cinemas March 14th.  The story centres on a a 21-year old mammoth hunter D’Leh (Steven Strait), who travels through unknown lands on a quest to save his tribe from extinction. D’Leh and his army encounter saber-toothed cats, mammoths and various other prehistoric creatures as they battle to save his tribe.
