Fan favourite’s big screen outing puts director under spell…
‘Sinister’ and ‘The Exorcism of Emily Rose’ helmer Scott Derrickson confirmed, via Twitter, that he is to take the helm of Marvel’s live-action adaptation of ‘Doctor Strange.’
The comic revolved around Stephen Strange, a former neurosurgeon who serves as the Sorcerer Supreme — the primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats. Created by Marvel legends Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the character first appeared in the 1963 comic series ‘Strange Tales,’ and quickly became a fan favourite.
No word on who will play the title role, though there are rumours that the likes of Jared Leto, Mads Mikkelsen, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are on the short list.
Derrickson’s latest offering, the Eric Bana and Edgar Ramirez-led supernatural thriller ‘Deliver Us From Evil’ is set to open in Irish cinemas August 22nd.
