Will Ferrell is set to star in ‘American Huckster,’ an adaptation of Mary Papenfuss and Teri Thompson’s novel about late American FIFA executive Chuck Blazer.
Leslye Headland, the co-creator, writer, and director of the fantastic Netflix series ‘Russian Doll,’ is attached to write and direct the feature which will see Ferrell playing Blazer, a stay-at-home New York soccer dad who rose from local youth soccer leagues to the heights of FIFA, skimming over $20 million in the process and became an unlikely FBI whistle-blower.
Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher’s Red Wagon and Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez are executive producing with Headland, and Lucas Wiesendanger overseeing for Red Wagon and Betsy Koch and Jessica Elbaum overseeing for Gary Sanchez.
