Awesome piece of casting for the remake.
Deadline is reporting that Michael Keaton has signed on to take the villainous role of Raymond Sellars in José Padilha’s upcoming re-imagining of ‘RoboCop.’
Sellars is the CEO of Omni Corp, the multinational conglomerate that builds the titular crime fighting cyborg. Hugh Laurie was expected to take the role until he passed on the part.
Keaton joins a cast that includes Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Ehle, Jackie Earle Haley, Jay Baruchel, Michael Kenneth Williams and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
In a statement, Padilha said, “Michael is the final addition to the amazing cast we have assembled for this film and it is so great to have the last puzzle piece in place. It is thrilling that everything has come together to bring this innovative new vision of RoboCop to life. We’ve got a great script, a great cast, some killer ED-209’s and I can’t wait to get Alex Murphy back on the streets.”
Production is scheduled to begin shooting next month.
