David Brent to hit the big screen in ‘Life On The Road’
It has been announced that British comedy actor, writer, and director Ricky Gervais is developing ‘Life on the Road,’ a brand new movie based on his creation David Brent, from ‘The Office.’
Shot documentary-style like the global hit series, ‘Life on the Road’ picks up 15 years after Brent’s redundancy from his beloved Slough paper company Wernham Hogg. Now a sales rep selling cleaning products up and down the UK, he has never really given up on his dream of being a rock star.
It is these dreams that lead to Brent setting out on a self-financed UK tour, with a camera crew in tow. Although, while he thinks it will be like Scorsese filming the Rolling Stones, it turns out to be a “Where are they now?” documentary.
The film is in development over at the BBC Films and is aiming to head into production early next year.
‘The Office’ is the most successful British Comedy of all time, shown in over 100 countries with remakes in 8, including US, Chile and most recently the Czech Republic.
