Satrapi to hear the evil voices of animals.
Iranian-born French helmer Marjane Satrapi (‘Chicken With Plums,’ ‘Persepolis’) has been locked in as director for Mandalay Vision and Vertigo Entertainment’s psychological thriller ‘The Voices.’
The Black List script penned by ‘Paranormal Activity 2’ scribe Michael R. Perry centres on Jerry Hickfang, a lovable but strange bathtub factory worker who yearns for the attention of a woman in accounting. When their relationship takes a sudden murderous turn, Jerry’s evil talking cat and benevolent talking dog lead him down a fantastical path that ultimately brings him to salvation.
In a statement, Mandalay Vision’s President Matthew Rhodes said, “Mandalay Vision is thrilled to be in business with such extraordinary talent. Between Michael Perry’s unique voice, and Marjane’s visionary style, we couldn’t be more excited to make this picture.”
Producer Roy Lee said, “Marjane Satrapi is the ideal director for Michael Perry’s inventive and horrifying script. We are excited to bring Satrapi’s vision of the ‘The Voices’ to audiences across the world.”Casting is underway with production planned for early 2013 start.
