Lisa Lerner’s ‘Just Like Beauty’ Preps for the Big Screen
Oren Segal has optioned Lisa Lerner’s debut novel ‘Just Like Beauty.’
The dark comedy – set in a dystopic future replete with a gang of blowtorchers, mutant grasshoppers and an underground suicide cult – centres on 14-year-old Edie Stein, who competes in a beauty pageant to please her mother.
Nick Pustay (Camille) has been tapped to adapt the novel for the big screen.
Segal is a manager at Media Talent Group. He raised independent development funds out of China to develop ‘Just Like Beauty.’ Segal is also producing a big screen adaptation of Michael Hornburg’s novel “Downers Grove.” Bret Easton Ellis has been tapped write. That project is out to directors.
