Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bella Thorne starring…
French filmmaker Franck Khalfoun (‘Maniac,’ ‘P2’) has been set as director for Dimension Films and Blumhouse Productions’ upcoming reboot of ‘The Amityville Horror’ franchise, says Bloody Disgusting.
Jennifer Jason Leigh (‘Kill Your Darlings,’ ‘The Machinist’) is attached to star, playing a single mother of three who moves into the infamous “Amityville” house, only to learn that it has a very dark history. Bella Thorne (‘Home Invasion,’ ‘Forget Me Not’) will also star.
Daniel Farrands and Casey La Scala, who penned the script, will produce the reboot with Jason Blum. The project was originally set up as a found-footage style horror, but that idea was ditched.
The original 1979 horror was based on Jay Anson’s book ‘The Amityville Horror: A True Story’ and told of the experiences of the Lutz family, who are terrorized by demonic forces after moving into a home that was the site of a grisly mass-murder. A reboot starring Ryan Reynolds, Melissa George, and Chloë Moretz was released back in 2005.
