Stage adaptation of male stripper film in development.
Deadline is reporting that Steven Soderbergh and Channing Tatum are set to produce a stage musical adaptation of their upcoming male stripper movie ‘Magic Mike.’
Based on Tatum’s experiences as a stripper when he was 19, ‘Magic Mike’ is the story of an experienced stripper (played by Tatum) who takes a young dancer called The Kid (Alex Pettyfer) under his wing and schools him in the arts of partying, picking up women, and making easy money. Set to Irish cinemas next month, the film also stars Matt Bomer, Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello and Riley Keough.
Gregory Jacobs, Nick Wechsler and Reid Carolin will co-produce. Carolin penned the film and is attached to write the book for the musical.‘Magic Mike: The Musical’ is expected to hit Broadway by the summer of 2013.
