It has been announced that principal photography has commenced on director Kristian Levring’s western thriller ‘The Salvation’ with Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen (‘Hannibal,’ ‘The Hunt’) leading an international cast that includes Eva Green (‘300: Rise of an Empire,’ ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (‘Watchmen,’ ‘Red Dawn’), French footballer-turned-actor Eric Cantona (‘Looking for Eric’), Mikael Persbrandt (‘The Hobbit’), Douglas Henshall (‘The Eagle’), Michael Raymond-James (‘Terriers’) and Jonathan Pryce (‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’).
When settler John kills his family’s murderer, he unleashes the fury of notorious gang leader Delarue. Betrayed by his corrupt and cowardly community, the peaceful pioneer must turn vengeful hunter, slay the outlaws, and cleanse the town’s black heart. The Salvation is an epic tale of revenge, lost love and greed.
‘The Salvation’ was scripted by Levring and Oscar winner Anders Thomas Jensen and pays tribute to the classic western with inspiration from Nordic and Viking sagas.
