Helmer circles Joplin biopic.
Lee Daniels (‘The Paperboy,’ ‘Precious’) has entered into talks to take the helm of ‘Get It While You Can,’ a long-in-development biopic of the late Janis Joplin that has Amy Adams (‘Trouble With the Curve,’ ‘The Master’) attached to star.
Penned by Ron Terry and his wife, Theresa Kounin-Terry, the film will focus on one day in the life of the charismatic American singer-songwriter. Daniels is the latest director to be linked to the project.
Over the years the project has had the likes of Fernando Meirelles (‘360,’ ‘Blindness’) and Catherine Hardwicke (‘Plush,’ ‘’Red Riding Hood,’ ‘Twilight’) attached to direct.
‘Get It While You Can’ is not to be confused with ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ director Sean Durkin’s rival project which has Nina Arianda (‘Midnight in Paris,’ ‘Win Win,’ ‘Tower Heist’) attached to portray the queen of rock ‘n’ roll.
