Deadline’s Mike Fleming is hearing word that Ridley Scott’s long-in-development project about the tumultuous Gucci family fashion dynasty is back on the cards with the news that Lady Gaga (‘A Star Is Born’) is attached to star.
Based on the Sara Gay Forden book ‘The House of Gucci,’ the Roberto Bentivegna-scripted film is framed around the rise of a family business that denigrated into squabbles over control of the business and greed, at a time when Gucci was being corporatized, and the brand’s relevance restored by CEO Domenico De Sole and creative director Tom Ford.
Gaga will take on the role of Patrizia Reggiano, who was sentenced to 29 years in jail for plotting the murder of her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci, grandson of the Gucci founder.
The plan is for Scott to direct the drama after he wraps up on ‘The Last Duel.’
