Sci-fi sequel lines up two new additions.
‘Battlestar Galactica’ and ‘24’ star Katee Sackhoff is in final negotiations to take the female lead opposite Vin Diesel in ‘Riddick,’ reports Deadline.
In the movie, written and directed by franchise creator David Twohy, Riddick is betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet. Fighting for survival against alien predators he becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.
Sackhoff would be playing Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tracking Riddick, while Variety adds that Spanish actor Jordi Molla (‘Colombiana,’ ‘Bad Boys 2,’ ‘Blow’) is close to finalizing a deal that would see him taking the villain role of Santana, a mercenary who heads up an eight-man crew tasked with finding and killing Riddick.
Production on the sequel resumed recently after a two-month hiatus while the producers secured financing.
