Julianne Moore Asks CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME

Nicole Holofcener-directed drama eyes Moore for lead role…

Julianne Moore, who scored the best actress Oscar for her role in ‘Still Alice,’ is in negotiations to take the lead in ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me,’ a drama based on the 2008 memoir by Lee Israel.

Per Variety, the drama tells of how the respected biographer fell on hard times and turned to counterfeiting the letters of deceased writers and celebrities in order to pay her rent. When the forgeries started to raise suspicion, she turned to stealing the actual letters from library archives and sold them through an ex-con fence she met in a bar, while the FBI was closing in on the scam.

Nicole Holofcener (‘Enough Said,’ ‘Friends with Money’) is writing and directing, with Anne Carey serving as producer.
