‘TRON: Legacy’ director set for true-crime drama…
THR is reporting that ‘Oblivion’ and ‘TRON: Legacy’ director Joseph Kosinski is to direct the true-crime drama ‘The Trials of White Boy Rick’ for Universal Pictures.
Based on The Atavist article by Evan Hughes, the drama centres on Rick Wershe, a 17-year-old kid in 1980s Detroit who joined the ranks of the drug kingpins on the predominantly black East Side as a prolific cocaine trafficker, going by the name “White Boy Rick.” The twist however, was that Wershe claimed to have been an undercover informant for the FBI and DEA since he was 14.
Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark of the Universal-based banner Bluegrass Films are producing with Erik Baiers and Sara Scott overseeing development.
