Leads locked in for 80s crime drama.
Jim Sturgess (‘Cloud Atlas,’ ‘One Day’) and Isabel Lucas (‘Red Dawn,’ ‘Immortals’) have been cast as the leads in the real-life crime drama ‘Electric Slide.’
With Tristan Patterson (‘Dragonslayer’) set to direct from his own screenplay, the film is based on a true story of high-living LA-based furniture salesman Eddie Dodson (Sturgess), who robbed a bank to impress his new girlfriend (Lucas), and became a serial robber known as “The Gentleman Bandit.”
In the 1980s, Dodson owned a high-end boutique furniture store on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. He lived the Hollywood lifestyle, partying and hanging out with celebrity friends when he fell in love and took the biggest risk of his life to impress his new girlfriend – he robbed a bank. The thrill was so intoxicating that Dodson robbed more than 72 banks over a period of only 4 months in the Los Angeles area before the FBI finally nailed him. Highly charismatic and handsome, Dodson charmed his bank teller victims into emptying their cash drawers and earned the nickname “The Gentleman Bandit.”
Patricia Arquette (‘Medium,’ ‘True Romance’), Chloë Sevigny (‘Lovelace,’ ‘American Psycho’), and Christopher Lambert (‘Mortal Combat,’ ‘Highlander’) are attached for supporting roles.
