Funnyman eyes heist comedy.
Variety is reporting that Jim Carrey is has entered in to talks to top-line ‘Loomis Fargo,’ a heist comedy based on a 1997 real-life bank robbery in Charlotte, North Carolina.
‘Napoleon Dynamite’ helmer Jared Hess is in the director’s chair with Carrey circling the role of David Scott Ghantt, a military veteran and night guard at the armoured car company Loomis Fargo. Ghantt was the ringleader of a band of dim-witted thieves who pulled off one of the biggest heists in American history, robbing $17.3 million from a Loomis Fargo armoured truck.
Emily Spivey (‘Parks and Recreation’) penned the first draft of the screenplay, which was later reworked by Jody Hill and Danny McBride. The latest draft comes from Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer.
