Will direct, star, and produce the film…
Actor-turned-filmmaker Jason Bateman (‘Bad Words,’ ‘This Is Where I Leave You’) is reportedly set to step behind the camera to direct ‘IPO Man’ for Fox Searchlight.
Per Deadline, the project is based on the 2013 Wired magazine article, ‘Meet the Man Who Sold His Fate to Investors at $1 a Share’ and will see Bateman playing “a man who found a novel commodity for a public offering: himself. It created a host of problems for the actual guy, Mike Merrill, when shareholders demanded control over life decisions like whether or not to have a vasectomy, or even whether he should move in with his longtime girlfriend (and minority shareholder).”
Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster (‘Transparent’) are on board to pen the screenplay, with Bateman and Aggregate partner Jim Garavente producing.
Bateman is currently in cinemas with the ensemble comedy ‘This Is Where I Leave You,’ and will next be seen in ‘Horrible Bosses 2’ when it hits Irish cinemas November 28th. The actor recently wrapped on his second directorial effort, ‘The Family Fang,’ in which he co-stars with Nicole Kidman.
