Filmmaker checks in for haunted hotel horror…
Jeremy Lovering, the writer-director behind last year’s Irish psychological horror ‘In Fear,’ has reportedly entered into talks with Sony Pictures to direct the ‘The Bringing.’ a horror thriller based on actual events.
Per Deadline, the film is loosely based on the tragic story of Elisa Lam story, a 21-year-old Canadian student who was found dead in a water tank on the roof of the Cecil Hotel. The infamous Los Angeles hotel is the place where such killers as Richard “The Nightstalker” Ramirez and Jack Unterweger called home at one time or other, and where numerous suicides, rapes and murders have occurred.
The script by Brandon and Philip Murphy focuses on a man investigating a mysterious death at the hotel, and the nightmare he finds himself stumbling into.
Nicholas Winding Refn (‘Drive,’ ‘Valhalla Rising,’ ‘Bronson’) was recently linked to the project but talks between the filmmaker and the studio stalled.
