‘Paranormal Activity 3’ and ‘Catfish’ directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman have been hired to write and direct an adaptation of Edward Abbey’s 1975 novel ‘The Monkey Wrench Gang,’ reports Deadline.
The novel follows the “comedic adventure of four disparate characters as they battle industrialization and destruction of the American West in the 70s. As the law closes in on them, the gang works together as a driven, but sometimes disorganized and bumbling group of amateur saboteurs, attacking deserted bulldozers, construction equipment, and trains. Three of the quartet vow they will not harm a human, animal, plant or rock, while the fourth, a young Vietnam vet, wants to blow stuff up.”
Edward R. Pressman and Grammy-winning album cover artist Gary Burden will produce.
