“Groovy.” Cult classic to get small screen adaptation…
Sam Raimi has revealed that a television series based on ‘The Evil Dead’ franchise is in the works, with his brother Ivan Raimi and original star Bruce Campbell co-writing.
Adding more excitement for fans of the cult horror franchise, Campbell confirmed his involvement to a fan on Twitter, revealing that he will possibly star, or at least “That’s the plan.”
The news of the TV series comes out of Comic Con, where Raimi was discussing the feature adaptation of the Playstation hit ‘The Last Of Us,’ which he’s producing.
Released in 1981, the low-budget original focused on a group of friends holed up in a remote cabin where they discover the book Necronomicon Ex-Mortis (Book Of The Dead) and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival. The film spawned two sequels, in 1987 and 1992, as well as a reboot in 2013, which featured Campbell in a post-credits cameo.
