Casey Affleck no longer attached to star…
Swedish filmmaker Daniel Espinosa (‘Safe House,’ ‘Snabba Cash’) is reportedly in talks to take the helm of the Boston Marathon drama ‘Boston Strong’ for 20th Century Fox.
Based on a spec script by ‘The Fighter’ writers Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy, the screenplay is adapted from Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge’s book of the same name and follows the massive manhunt to apprehend the two men believed to be responsible for the bombings, as well as examining the city’s reaction following the events.
Casey Affleck, a Boston native, was attached to star in and produce the drama but Variety’s sources hear that his deal fell apart.
Dorothy Aufiero (‘ Good Will Hunting,’ ‘Spartan’) is producing ‘Boston Strong’ with Hutch Parker (‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ ‘The Wolverine’).
Espinosa’s latest offering, the Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace-led Soviet thriller ‘Child 44,’ arrives in Irish cinemas April 2015.
