1970s crime thriller has its leads.
Last November it was reported that Mark Wahlberg was circling one of the male leads in actor-turned-director Guillaume Canet’s 1970’s crime thriller ‘Blood Ties.’ Well it appears that things didn’t work out as THR has word that Clive Owen and Billy Crudup are set to lead the feature.
The story centers on a man (Crudup) who has to ask his convict older brother (Owen) to go back into the underworld to help out the family.
Canet penned the screenplay with ‘We Own the Night’ writer-director James Gray based on the French novel ‘Les liens du sang’ by Bruno and Michel Papet.
Marion Cotillard, Mila Kunis, Zoe Saldana and James Caan are also attached to star, with Cotillard and Kunis playing love interests. An offer is reportedly out to ‘Bullhead’ star Matthias Schoenaerts for a role.
Jacques Maillot previously adapted the novel back in 2008, in which Canet starred. This new take on the thriller will serve as Canet’s English-language debut.
