Bruce Lee drama finds its director…
‘The Adjustment Bureau’ writer-director George Nolfi has closed a deal to take the director’s chair for the Bruce Lee biopic ‘Birth of the Dragon,’ according to Variety.
Featuring a screenplay by ‘Nixon’ and ‘Ali’ scribes Christopher Wilkinson and Stephen Rivele, the film is inspired by true story of Lee’s historic 1965 duel with Wong Jack Man, China’s most famous kung fu master at a time when San Francisco’s Chinatown was controlled by Hong Kong Triads.
The story of the match is told from the perspective of Steve Macklin, a young disciple of Lee, who ultimately joins forces with Lee and Wong to battle vicious Chinatown gangsters.
Wilkinson and Rivele will also produce the project alongside Janice Williams and Michael London of Groundswell Productions, and QED International’s Bill Block.
