Nothing is safe from remakes…
Heat Vision has learned that Dana Brunetti, the producer behind such hits as ‘House of Cards,’ ‘Captain Phillips’ and ‘The Social Network,’ is developing a modern take on director John Badham’s 1983 action thriller ‘Blue Thunder.’
Starring Roy Scheider of ‘Jaws’ fame, the original centred on a LAPD helicopter-pilot-officer and troubled Vietnam War veteran who is selected to pilot the world’s most advanced helicopter, nicknamed “Blue Thunder”, a military-style combat helicopter intended for police use in surveillance and help control crowds during the 1984 Olympics. The film was spun into a television series that lasted 11 episodes.
The new take on the property is expected to focus on a drone rather than a helicopter. Former Marvel Studios executive Craig Kyle is on board to pen the screenplay with Brunetti producing through his Trigger Street Productions banner.
