“Aphrodite IX” comic going 3-D for big screen
Threshold Entertainment, Platinum Studios and Top Cow Prods are joining forces to adapt comic book “Aphrodite IX” as a 3-D feature film.
The comic centres on a cyborg assassin who achieves self-awareness and begins searching for her origins. Producers are looking for the female lead.
“This is just the kind of franchise we love: a visually stunning world, amazing effects, a great story and a hot, kick-ass babe in the lead,” Threshold’s Larry Kasanoff said.
A similar prescription paid off handsomely last year with “Wanted,” starring Angelina Jolie. Top Cow spun Mark Millar and JG Jones’ comic into a franchise for Universal Pictures, grossing $339 million worldwide.
