Will direct the Zach Helm-scripted thriller.
English filmmaker Adrian Lyne (‘Flashdance,’ ‘Fatal Attraction,’ ‘9 1/2 Weeks,’ ‘Lolita’) has signed on to direct ‘Deep Water,’ a film adaptation of the classic novel by Patricia Highsmith, the late author of ‘Strangers On A Train’ and ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley.’
The novel, first published in 1957, tells the story of Vic and Melinda, an attractive young married couple whose mind games with each other take a twisted turn when people around them start turning up dead.
‘Stranger Than Fiction’ scribe Zach Helm is providing the screenplay, and according to Deadline, a Hollywood A-lister is already in talks to star. Ben Forkner and Film 360 partner Guymon Casady are producing, as are Garrett Basch and Steve Zaillian through their Fox-based banner, Film Rites.
The adaptation will mark Lyne’s first feature since 2002’s ‘Unfaithful.’
