Justin Kelly on board as director…

‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ actor Zachary Quinto and Emma Roberts (‘American Horror Story’) are set to star alongside James Franco in the indie drama ‘Michael.

With Gus van Sant executive producing, the film is based on Benoit Denizet-Lewis’s 2011 New York Times article about Michael Glatze, “a Christian minister from Wyoming who was so entrenched in gay culture before he rejected his homosexuality, he founded a gay youth magazine.”

Variety hears that Quinto will play the former boyfriend of Franco’s character, while Roberts, who previously worked with Franco on ‘Palo Alto,’ is playing Glatze’s girlfriend. Chris Zylka (‘The Leftovers’) will also star, playing another past love interest.

Justin Kelly, who is behind the camera for the film, said: “This isn’t just a story about an ‘ex-gay’. It’s actually a very relatable story about the power of belief and the desire to belong.”
