X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Adds Peter Dinklage

Tyrion Lannister boards comic book sequel.

Bryan Singer has revealed, via Twitter, that scene-stealing ‘Game of Thrones’ star Peter Dinklage has become the latest addition to the cast of ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past.’

Dinklage joins a huge ensemble that includes ‘X-Men: First Class’ stars Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Jason Flemyng, and original ‘X-Men’ cast members Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, and Shawn Ashmore.

It’s not yet known what character Dinklage will be playing, but many are speculating that he will taking the role of fan-favourite Puck, aka Eugene Milton Judd, of Alpha Flight fame – the Canadian superhero team that Wolverine was a member of before joining up with the X-Men.

Drawing inspiration from Chris Claremont and John Byrne’s memorable 1981 comic book story arc of the same name, ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ revolves around an dystopian alternative future in which mutants are incarcerated in internment camps by the Sentinels. The few surviving members of the X-Men – Wolverine, Kitty Pryde, Storm, Colossus and Magneto – must travel in time to prevent a fatal moment in history which triggers anti-mutant hysteria.

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ is scheduled for release July 2014.

UPDATE – Variety is hearing word that Dinklage will be taking the role of the film’s main antagonist.
