Reese Witherspoon is in talks to star as Peggy Lee, in the upcoming biopic written by Nora Ephron.
The actress would play the jazz singer, songwriter, composer and actress who gained prominence in the 1940s with her first hit, “Somebody Else is Taking My Place”. She went on to have a career that lasted almost seven decades.
Witherspoon acquired the rights to the story from Lee’s estate after meeting with Holly Foster-Wells, Lee’s granddaughter.
Nora Ephron penned the script on the project. The two had worked together previously on the “Legally Blonde” franchise.
Witherspoon will also be producing the film with Marc Platt.
