William Hurt confirmed for Robin Hood

History of Violence star joins Ridley Scott’s “Robin Hood”

William Hurt has joined the cast of Ridley Scott’s upcoming Robin Hood reimagining.

Hurt, who was nominated for his supporting role in 2005’s “A History of Violence”, will portray William Marshall, the Earl of Pembroke, a real-life figure and skilled jouster who was one of the most powerful men in Europe.

The medieval epic will tell the origins of the key characters in the Robin Hood legend.

Joining Crowe in the cast are Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand and Alan Doyle as Merry Men. Cate Blanchett will play Maid Marian, while Mark Strong and Vanessa Redgrave are also on board the movie.
