Mr Saturday night will host the Irish Film and TV Awards 2009
The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) today announced Ryan Tubridy as the host of the 6th Annual Irish Film & Television Awards. This is Tubridy’s third successive year hosting the IFTA Awards show, which will broadcast Live from the Burlington Hotel in Dublin on the 14th February 2009 at 9.30pm on RTÉ One.
Tubridy, a self-proclaimed film buff today said “It has been a spectacular year for the Irish in Hollywood and I suspect that there is nothing like being honoured at home, by your own and that’s why the IFTA’s make sense. In these difficult times people need quality distraction and the nominees have played their part in providing a splash of colour in a dark world.”
Ryan Tubridy began hosting his Saturday night entertainment show Tubridy Tonight in 2004 and has interviewed many well known faces from former US President Bill Clinton to Martin Sheehan and Al Pacino. He also presents The Tubridy Show, weekday mornings on RTÉ Radio One.
