An early example of the big brand names ‘synergising’ with the biggest movies. Sure, you can argue that it’s all very tongue-in-cheek – Marty’s mother thinking he’s called Calvin Klein, the self-tying Nikes, even the DeLorean itself – and you’d be right, but it’s still utterly shameless in its constant referencing of modern day products. Thankfully it doesn’t ruin the movie and is in fact the rare example of product placement working for a film franchise.
