Tom Hardy in Talks for Krays Drama LEGENDS

Brian Helgeland to direct true crime drama…

Tom Hardy (‘Locke,’ ‘The Dark Knight Rises’) has entered into talks to topline ‘Legend,’ writer/director Brian Helgeland’s true crime drama about the notorious Kray twins who ruled the London underworld during the early 1960s.

The film would see Hardy portraying both Reggie and Ronnie Kray in the film, with the story concentrating more on the life of Reggie – older by 10 minutes – as he sought to control the psychotic tendencies of his younger twin.

According to Screen Daily, who broke the news of Hardy’s involvement, Kray rivals – such as notorious gangster Jack “the Hat” McVitie, politician Lord Boothby, and the brothers’ nemesis in the police force, DS Leonard “Nipper” Read, all factor into the script.

‘Legend’ is being developed and produced by UK banner Working Title (‘Rush,’ ‘About Time’).

Director Peter Medak tackled the brothers’ story back in 1990, with Spandau Ballet siblings Gary and Martin Kemp portraying the twins.
