Short list of actresses revealed
THR reports that Hayley Atwell (‘Captain America: The First Avenger’), Alexa Davalos (‘Clash of the Titans’) and Rosamund Pike (‘Barney’s Version’) are the top three actresses on a short list for the female lead opposite Tom Cruise in the action crime thriller ‘One Shot.’
An adaptation of Lee Child’s 2005 bestselling novel of the same name the plot centers on Jack Reacher, “an ex-Army cop who gets sucked into the mystery surrounding the arrest of a sniper accused of killing five random people in a shooting.”
Taking the director’s chair for the movie will be ‘Way of the Gun’ director Christopher McQuarrie, directing from his own script.
Indie actress Brit Marling (‘Another Earth’) was believed to be an early favorite but according to the trade’s sources her schedule prevented her taking the role.
