THE WHITE CIRCUS Reunites HUGO Co-Stars Chloe Moretz and Asa Butterfield

Andrea Riseborough and Christian Friedel co-starring.

Screen Daily has learned that Chloë Moretz and her ‘Hugo’ co-star Asa Butterfield are set to join Andrea Riseborough (‘Oblivion’) and German actor Christian Friedel (‘The White Ribbon’) for ‘The White Circus,’ a dark fairytale that marks the first feature from writing-directing team Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski, known collectively as Clyde Henry.

Described as a “dark fairytale of with moments of brilliant black comedy,” the film centres on a young pilot who crashes his plane in a war-torn town and “befriends a talking circus bear, falls in love with a cabaret singer and challenges a maniacal despot.”

‘The White Circus’ is scheduled to start filming in Germany and Serbia in early 2014.

Moretz will next be seen reprising her role as Hit Girl in ‘Kick-Ass 2’ when it opens in August, followed by her role as the titular telekinetic teen in Kimberly Peirce’s ‘Carrie’ remake in November. Next up for Butterfield is the Gavin Hood-directed adaptation ‘Ender’s Game,’ opening in Irish cinemas this October.
