Young adult horror series headed to the big screen…

The suits in Hollywood have reportedly set the ball rolling on an adaptation of Rick Yancey’s four-book young adult horror series ‘The Monstrumologist,’ with Jessica Postigo (‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’) adapting the script.

A mix of 19th century gothic horror and a Stephen King tale, the books revolve around Dr. Pellinore Warthrop and his orphaned assistant Will Henry, who study dangerous creatures and monsters. In his time with the doctor, Will has met many a mysterious late-night visitor, and seen things he never imagined were real. But when a grave robber comes calling in the middle of the night with a gruesome find, he brings with him their most deadly case yet.

Gotham Group’s Eric Robinson and Ellen Goldsmith Vein are producing the adaptation with Bob Teitel and George Tillman, Jr. of State Street. Drew Crevello, senior VP over at Warner Bros. and creative exec Jon Gonda are overseeing development.
