THR has learned that 20th Century Fox has brought in screenwriter and director Bill Condon (‘The Fifth Estate,’ ‘Dreamgirls’) to rewrite the screenplay for ‘The Greatest Showman On Earth,’ the Hugh Jackman-led musical biopic of legendary showman P.T. Barnum.
With visual effect whiz and commercials director Michael Gracey behind the camera, the film follows Barnum (Jackman) as he founds a travelling circus. As previously reported, another focal point of the film will deal with Barnum’s infatuation with opera singer Jenny Lind, dubbed “the Swedish Nightingale.”
Jackman will also produce the film along with Laurence Mark and his Seed Productions partner John Palermo.
