New director being eyed for the big screen reboot.

Deadline’s Mike Fleming has received word that director Antoine Fuqua (‘Shooter,’ ‘King Arthur,’ ‘Tears of the Sun’) has entered into talks to reunite with his ‘Training Day’ star Denzel Washington for the big screen reboot of ‘The Equalizer.’

A new take on the classic 80s series starring Edward Woodward, the film will see Washington playing “a solitary, monastic figure who hates injustice and devotes himself to helping people who are being victimized.”

Fuqua is the latest director linked to Richard Wenk-penned film, following the likes of Paul Haggis (‘Crash’), Nicolas Winding Refn (‘Drive’), and ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ helmer Rupert Wyatt.
