Filming kicks off in June in Ireland…

Honorary Corkman Jeremy Irons (‘Man of Steel 2,’ ‘The Borgias’) and Jonathan Rhys Meyers (‘Dracula,’ ‘The Tudors’) are to take “prominent roles” alongside Jessica Chastain and Vanessa Redgrave in the upcoming film adaptation of Sebastian Barry’s 2008 novel ‘The Secret Scripture,’ says the Irish Independent.

Adapted by Johnny Ferguson (‘Gangster No. 1’), the film centres on Roseanne McNulty, a 100-year old patient at Roscommon Regional Mental Hospital who begins writing a memoir, but her recollection of events is far different from what actually happened.

‘Zero Dark Thirty’ star Chastain will portray the young version of Roseanne, while Redgrave (‘Julia,’ ‘Howard’s End’) will play her later in life.

Production is scheduled for June with filming to take place in Sligo and Wicklow. Noel Pearson (‘The Field,’ ‘Dancing at Lughnasa,’ ‘My Left Foot’) is producing.
