Takashi Miike’s AUDITION Getting English-Language Remake

English-language adaptation in the works…

Deadline reports that producer Mario Kassar (‘Terminator 2,’ ‘Basic Instinct,’ ‘Rambo’) has set in motion the plans for an English-language remake of Takashi Miike’s cringe-inducing cult ‘Audition.’

Adapted from Japanese author Ryu Murakami’s 1997 novel, the psychological horror centres on a lonely widower who gets more than he bargains for when he takes an offer to screen girls at a special audition, arranged for him by a friend to find him a new wife. This new film will transport the story to an American setting.

Richard Gray (‘Sugar Mountain,’ ‘The Lookalike’) is attached to direct from his own script, with filming to get underway in the autumn.
