Steven Soderbergh Takes THE BITTER PILL

Director picks up new project.

A couple of weeks ago it was revealed that Steven Soderbergh had stepped away from his planned remake of ‘Man from U.N.C.L.E.’ Now word has arrived that the director has found his next project, ‘The Bitter Pill,’ a thriller set in the world of psychopharmacology.

The director will re-team with his ‘Contagion’ and ‘The Informant!’ scribe Scott Z. Burns to develop the thriller. Taking to The Playlist, Burns said that the thriller “deals with people and their moods. It’s about how we as a society can’t tolerate sadness and what that makes us vulnerable to.”

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (‘The Last Stand,’ ‘Transformers’) will finance the thriller alongside Soberbergh’s longtime producing partner Gregory Jacobs.

Soberbergh’s action thriller ‘Haywire’ starring Gina Carano hits Irish cinemas January 20th. His male stripper movie ‘Magic Mike’ is expected to arrive in June.
