‘District 9’ star Sharlto Copley has closed a deal to lead Russian filmmaker Ilya Naishuller’s “inventive” first-person point-of-view action movie ‘Hardcore,’ reports TheWrap.
To be written by Naishuller, the “stylized action movie will feature sci-fi elements and find Copley killing a lot of bad guys to save a damsel in distress.” Further details remain firmly under wraps.
Naishuller’s fellow Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov is on board to produce the project alongside Naishuller, Katia Kononeko and Inga Vainshtein.
Bekmambetov took notice of Naishuller’s work after his seeing his hugely popular POV shorts on YouTube and Vimeo, the most recent of which, the excellent ‘Bad Motherfucker,’ you can check out below.
