SAW Scribes to Pen THE STUFF OF LEGEND

Horror writers go family friendly…

Heat Vision is reporting that screenwriters Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, the duo team behind four of the seven ‘Saw’ films and ‘Piranha 3D,’ are teaming with Walt Disney Pictures to pen the script for the live-action family flick ‘The Stuff of Legend.’

Based on Mike Raicht, Brian Smith, and Charles Paul Wilson III’s graphic novel of the same name the story takes place in 1944 Brooklyn. As Allied forces fight the enemy on Europe’s war-torn beaches, another battle begins in a child’s bedroom when the nightmarish Boogeyman snatches a boy and takes him to the realm of The Dark. The child’s playthings, led by the toy soldier known as the Colonel, band together to stage a daring rescue. On their perilous mission they will confront the boy’s bitter and forgotten toys, as well as betrayal in their own ranks.

Animator Peter Candeland (‘The Return of Jafar,’ ‘All Dogs Go To Heaven 2’) will make his directorial debut with the film, which is being produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman (‘Warm Bodies,’ ‘The Muppets’) through their Disney-based Mandeville Films.
